I don’t need to explain why I’m posting a pizza dough recipe. If you love making pizza at home, you’d understand the struggle. There’s not a decent ready made pizza dough out there in the market that we can use. In addition, we want healthier choices, right? Why not make a pizza dough yourself, at home, to your specific preferences? Here is a simple recipe that you can modify to your liking.
Ingredients:
- Flour, all purpose or bread, 28 oz
- Room temperature water, 17.4 oz
- Instant dry yeast, 1 teaspoon
- Salt, 2.5 teaspoons
- Sugar, 2 teaspoons
- Olive oil, 3 teaspoons
How to Prepare:
First, place the water in a mixing bowl. Then, in a separate bowl, mix the salt and yeast into flour. Combine the flour, salt, and yeast mixture into water and mix until all the flour has been incorporated. After the flour has been totally incorporated, add oil and knead for about 4 to 5 minutes.
Divide the dough into four equal pieces and place in a greased, sealed quart-sized container or oiled/greased freezer bag. Refrigerate overnight but I recommend that you refrigerate for three straight days as it will bring about the best results. After freezing, remove your dough balls within one hour or less of baking and allow the dough to come to room temperature.
In the meantime, place your pizza stone in oven and preheat at 550 degrees for at least 1 hour. After preheating, open each dough ball using care and transfer to a pre-floured pizza peel. Top with your favorite sauce, cheese, or other toppings. Finally, transfer pizza from peel to oven or slide parchment paper onto preheated pizza pan and bake for 4 to 6 minutes each until browned on top and cheese has melted but not burned.
