Ingredients
- 5 slices of bacon
- 1 pound ground chuck
- 4 ounces smoked cheese (we prefer cheddar), sliced
- 4 eggs
- 1/2 pound bulk hot Italian sausage
- 3 tablespoons chopped scallions
- 1 ounce dry ranch dressing mix
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
- 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter, at room temperature
- Burger buns (we suggest using our AT 10 recipe)
Directions
First, preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit then cover a baking sheet with foil. Arrange the bacon in a single layer on the sheet tray, then bake for 20-22 minutes, or until crispy. Don’t forget to rotate the pan halfway through. Once done, transfer to a plate lined with paper towels and pat dry. Once the bacon has cooled, chop them into small pieces.
In a large bowl combine the bacon, ground chuck, sausage, scallions, ranch dressing mix, and pepper. Divide the mixture into four 6-6 1/2 ounce patties no more than 3/4” thick.
Place a cast iron pan, heavy-bottomed skillet or grill pan over a medium high flame and add vegetable oil. Then carefully add the burgers and cook for 4-5 minutes on one side once a nice, crust has formed. Flip, and top each patty with cheese, then cook for another 4-5 minutes. Transfer the burgers to a plate, cover and keep warm. Discard the grease in the pan, and reduce the heat to medium.
Reduce the heat of the pan to a low flame. Then, crack the eggs in the pan, and cook for about 2 minutes. Place an egg on each burger patty. Spread mayonnaise over the buns, and top with a burger and egg. Lastly, take time to appreciate this masterpiece sunrise burger you just made before devouring all of it. Enjoy!
