So, what is a resort? What makes it different from a hotel? Is it a posh place that my family and I will never be able to afford? Is it something only for the rich and famous? Even if I could afford it, why would I want to go to a resort? These are all questions I myself was wondering. So, let’s dive into the answers together.
Exactly what qualifies as a Resort?
An interesting fact, there is a famous resort called Baiae. This Italian resort was a major destination, over two thousand years ago! But basically, a resort is a one stop vacation destination. Not that you cannot leave the resort and go exploring during your vacation. Rather, a resort aims to have everything you might possibly want during your vacation stay.
It of course is different at each place, the consistent thing is they each offer far more than lodging. But often includes amenities like entertainment, restaurants, shopping, sports (think pools, tennis courts, gyms, etc.), and relaxation facilities. There are destination resorts that offer something unique enough to rival the attraction of theme park resorts. There are even town resorts where the entire town is built around tourism. This extends to resort islands. All these features are what sets resorts apart from hotels.
Are they Affordable?
That depends on the resort and location. Most of them make it a point to be affordable. They want to be competitive and your choice for a vacation. So, they are definitely worth looking over. With all the choices resorts offer, it gives you an even better chance of planning your perfect vacation. They want your business, so they make it a point to be as affordable as they can. Well, most of them do. There are a few exceptions which are indeed for the rich and famous. Though, those are the exceptions not the rule.
Also, a lot of resorts run specials to attract visitors out of peak season. This puts vacations into reach for a lot of people that normally wouldn’t be able to afford it. Everyone needs a break from time to time. If you can afford it, I highly suggest you consider taking a breather. It boosts happiness and efficiency for most, after all!
Why Would I want to go to a Resort?
There are resorts that cater to every vacation desire. There are even resorts that enable you to see as few other humans as possible if that is what you are after. I suggest deciding as a family what sort of vacation everyone would like. Many resorts make it a point to try to offer everything an entire family would want, all under one roof. This can help keep everyone happy! That way the vacation is relaxing for everyone.
And we all know how hard it can be to please everyone in the family! One wants to be at the beach. Another wants to play basketball. A third wants to stay in and read. And another wants to spend the whole time shopping. Thankfully resorts make this possible, whether you each go your own ways or take turns. Now, if you check out a resort feel free to tell us if you enjoyed your stay or not. That will help us determine which resorts make the lists and which ones get left off. You’ve worked hard. Enjoy that vacation!
